A really fun figurine of a putto riding a dolphin made by Meissen during the Pfeiffer period of the 20th century so it is almost a true antique now : Definitely based on an 18th century model by the look of that great dolphin and probably part of the table decor for the famous Swan service! The putto is mostly nude but strategically covered with a yellow cloth. It is holding a piece of red corral in its hand as if playing catch with the dolphin kind of like a dog with a stick. An amazingly modeled piece and a very hard to find model!
Amazingly it is in perfect condition! The figure is 4.5 inches tall, 2.25 inches wide and 3 inches long.
The figure is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark underneath the base as well as the usual impressed numbers, etc. Of the period as shown. If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces.
